Accessible Organizations Project
The Accessible Organizations Project (AOP) is funded by the Government of BC and managed by Disability Alliance BC. Part of the AOP is to identify Sector Hubs that have Prescribed Organizations as members and work with the Hubs to help the Prescribed Organizations meet a number of requirements relating to accessibility that are listed in Part 3 of the Accessible BC Act. The Act came into effect Sept. 1, 2022. It requires over 750 Prescribed Organizations listed in the regulation to meet these requirements by Sept. 1, 2023 and a second group of organizations to meet these requirements by Sept. 1, 2024.
The AOP is an integral part of the overall accessibility strategy for the Province of British Columbia. It is a strategy that involves people with disabilities as collaborators at each stage of the process that will help shape the future of accessibility in the Province.
