Disability Alliance BC (DABC) respects and upholds an individual’s right to privacy and the protection of their personal information. DABC is committed to ensuring compliance with British Columbia’s Personal Information and Protection of Privacy Act (PIPA). DABC will inform people what personal information it collects about people and why. It will store information securely and identify who has access to the information it collects. It will inform people what information will be shared, with whom, and why.

Our website uses Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use the site and to improve our services. The tool uses cookies to collect standard information (including your IP address) about visitors’ behaviour and stores this information on Google’s servers [cookies are small text files sent to your computer when your browser visits a website]. This information is anonymous.

DABC will not (and will not allow any third party to) use Google Analytics to collect any information that would identify users of our site. Google will use the anonymous information collected for the purpose of tracking your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for use by DABC and providing other services relating to the the website and Internet usage. By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above. However, you can also chose to decline cookies from Google Analytics by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser.

At DABC we value the privacy of your payment information. All online transactions are processed with encrypted protocols. Where a DABC staff person is directly handling credit card information provided by phone or in writing, this information will be manually entered via an encrypted web portal, then any hard copy materials in which the payment information appears in writing (either on a written donation form, or handwritten notes made during a phone call) will be destroyed immediately after processing the transaction. Web browser caches will also be emptied following completion of any transaction.
