DABC joins call to end street checks - add your voice!
DABC has joined the call led by Black Lives Matter – Vancouver, BC Hogan’s Alley Society UBCIC, BC Civil Liberties Association and WISH Drop-In Centre Society for the Vancouver Police Board, City of Vancouver and the BC government to address systemic discrimination in policing by implementing an immediate ban on street checks in Vancouver and BC. Street checks disproportionately impact Black, Indigenous, racialized and low-income communities.

UBC Health Mentors Program
UBC Health Mentors program is looking for volunteer Health Mentors (or caregivers) who live with a chronic illness and who want to share their healthcare expertise with UBC students. Help new healthcare students learn about patient centered care! The program starts in September 2020 and runs until May 2021. Given Covid-19, mentors should be able to meet with students virtually through Zoom or Skype.

300 To Live Campaign: Ask the government to make the $300 increase to PWD/IA rates permanent
DABC has signed onto the 300ToLive Campaign’s open letter to Premier John Horgan and Minister Shane Simpson, asking the government to make the temporary $300 increase to income assistance and provincial disability assistance rates permanent.
This campaign arose from the work of disabled and neurodivergent people in Autistics United Canada (BC Chapters) and Vancouver Queer Spoon Share.
