The City of Vancouver wants to hear from you re: lockable lighters

Due to rising public safety concerns and increased fire risk, the City of Vancouver is seeking your input on the impact a ban on the retail sale of lockable lighters might have on you and your community.

Lockable lighters would still be available to purchase online or in retail stores in neighbouring cities, and residents will still have access to devices with a trigger ignition and manual release button.

Note re: BC Bus Pass Program

All bus passes and bus pass renewal stickers for 2024 were sent out in the first week of December. Some renewal packages may have arrived a bit later than in previous years. All Ministry clients should have received them before the end of December, but TransLink/BC Transit are allowing a two-week grace period just in case. That means clients can just show their Compass Card until their new sticker arrives.

If you are a Ministry client and have not received your new bus pass or renewal sticker, you can call the Ministry’s toll free number (1-866-866-0800), enter your Person ID or PIN, choose option 3, then option 1 to speak to an agent on the bus pass team.
