Important Changes to CPP-D Appeals

As of April 1, 2013, all CPP Disability appeals that are before the Review Tribunal were transferred to the new Social Security Tribunal. A letter will be sent to all appellants advising them of the new Tribunal’s procedures.

Over the next few months, BCCPD will be working on producing materials on the new Social Security Tribunal.

*Suggested eligibility: Individuals receiving PWD; Individuals earning up to $25,000; Couples earning up to $35,000

– ACORN’s tax assistance can be directly accessed at: 101- 630 Columbia St. in New West.
– ACORN does taxes under the auspices of the CRA and their tax prep volunteer program, our ACORN volunteer at the BCCPD office is not providing professional accounting services.
– Volunteers do not prepare returns for complex situations such as: Returns for deceased persons; individuals who file for bankruptcy; self-employed individuals; individuals who report capital gains or losses; individuals who report employment expenses, business or rental income & expenses

Notice of MSD Office Changes- Vancouver Coastal Region

The BC Coalition of People with Disabilities has received the notification below from the Ministry of Social Development about an office closure in the Vancouver Coastal Region:

As a result of Service Delivery changes in the Vancouver Coastal Region, the Fairview Employment and Assistance office located at:

                                                201 – 828 West 8th Avenue,
                                                           Vancouver, BC

will no longer be providing face to face services to the public effective February 4, 2013. Current clients of the Fairview office will be assigned to other offices as follows:
