DABC's Disability Law Clinic continues to provide services during office closure
While the DABC office is currently closed, our new Disability Law Clinic is still able to provide free legal advice to people with disabilities about human rights and discrimination, including:
o Accommodations related to the COVID-19 virus and social distancing
o Accommodation in the workplace
o Access to transportation
o Access to education
o Housing
o Service animals
We can also provide advice to people having problems with their disability benefits.
If you live in British Columbia, have a disability, and need legal advice about one of these issues, you can contact the Disability Law Clinic at lawclinic@disabilityalliancebc.therightfitbc.org or by leaving a message at 604-875-0188 (Toll-free 1-800-663-1278).
Update: DABC's Response to COVID-19
Dear DABC Community:
We wanted to provide an update about what DABC is doing in the context of the quickly evolving situation around COVID-19. During our temporary office closure, we are actively working on systems to deliver as many of our services as possible remotely. We will provide updates here and on our website when those services are available.
In the meantime, we have been in contact with various provincial and federal ministries, and are actively working with other groups to advocate for emergency supports for people living on low incomes and people with disabilities. We will do our best to update on new supports if and when they are announced.
Thank you for your understanding – we hope everyone is staying safe.
