We’re pleased to share that the VDRC and Disability Alliance BC (DABC) will be hosting a virtual All Candidates Forum, during which you will have the opportunity to hear from candidates who are running in the upcoming provincial election in the Capital Regional District.
The forum will focus on issues that have a significant impact on people with disabilities, including PWD disability assistance rates, accessible and affordable housing, and access to health care. Candidates will be asked questions on these topics and given an opportunity to share what they and their parties would do to address them.

We would like to acknowledge the recent passing of Ken Fraser from VRS Communities and express our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who worked closely with him.
Ken was a true leader and visionary in accessible housing. He championed and brought to life the availability of choices for people with disability to live independently in their own homes and communities.
Through VRS Communities and their partnerships with developers, Ken and his team provided accessible homes where some Right Fit clients now live.
As a long-time member of the Right Fit Steering Committee, we are thankful for his invaluable knowledge, experience, and perspective, especially in the face of challenges. We will all miss him greatly in this work; Ken’s passing is an incalculable loss to the disability community.
Disability Alliance BC is thrilled to partner with the Victoria Foundation and City of Victoria to scale up the Right Fit Program.
The Right Fit Program is a multi-partner service that matches wheelchair users with accessible housing and independent living supports, preventing homelessness, institutionalization, and unsafe housing situations for people with disabilities.
The program was started in Vancouver and is now expanding to the island through generous grants from the Capital Regional District, Real Estate Foundation of BC, and Alacanastu Family Foundation. Additional financial support from Victoria Foundation and the City of Victoria will allow us to serve more people who need it and improve wellbeing and belonging.
Locally, the program will be delivered with the Victoria Disability Resource Centre to help connect Right Fit staff with community organizations, housing providers and wheelchair users seeking accessible housing.
