DABC's Outstanding Employment Awards - 2016

We’re delighted to announce that nominations are now open for Disability Alliance BC’s (DABC) 2016 Outstanding Employment Awards.

This year, DABC will recognize a BC employer who has demonstrated excellence in the hiring and employing of people with disabilities. We will also recognize an outstanding employee with a disability who has exhibited exceptional skill or accomplishments in their work.

Award winners will be announced and presented with a plaque at DABC’s Swing into Spring Annual Fundraiser on April 7th 2016 at Vancouver’s Croatian Cultural Centre.

New Help Sheet: Guide to Filing Income Taxes for People Receiving PWD/PPMB

As part of our Tax AID DABC program, DABC has produced a new Help Sheet that describes how people receiving provincial disability benefits in BC can prepare and submit an income tax return for free over the internet.

Ready to Vote Workshop at Disability Alliance BC

The federal election is on October 19, 2015

Each poll is accessible to all: no matter what your barrier is to accessing a polling station, Elections Canada will provide a voting method to accommodate your disability.

To learn more about accessible voting, please come to a session presented by the Community Relations Officer – Accessibility, Elections Canada.

Find out how to cast your vote, and ensure that you are registered through a quick online process on the Elections Canada website.

The Officer will be able to help you register on-line or update your voting registration if necessary. You will need to bring ID to be registered or review your registration. Please also bring your SIN number. The following ID is acceptable:

–       Provincial or Territorial ID card

–       Veterans Affairs health card

–       Voter’s ID card if you have received one

–       Driver’s license

–       Any other government card with your photo, name and current address
