Update on the Right Fit’s Expansion to Victoria
Disability Alliance BC is thrilled to partner with the Victoria Foundation and City of Victoria to scale up the Right Fit Program.
The Right Fit Program is a multi-partner service that matches wheelchair users with accessible housing and independent living supports, preventing homelessness, institutionalization, and unsafe housing situations for people with disabilities.
The program was started in Vancouver and is now expanding to the island through generous grants from the Capital Regional District, Real Estate Foundation of BC, and Alacanastu Family Foundation. Additional financial support from Victoria Foundation and the City of Victoria will allow us to serve more people who need it and improve wellbeing and belonging.
Locally, the program will be delivered with the Victoria Disability Resource Centre to help connect Right Fit staff with community organizations, housing providers and wheelchair users seeking accessible housing.
