Community Update: New and Updated Help Sheets

DABC often receives phone calls and emails from people who are about to turn 65 and are wondering about the transition from provincial disability benefits to old age benefits. To explain this process, DABC advocates have created a new Help Sheet: #12B: Transition from PWD Benefits to Old Age Benefits.

What was previously Help Sheet #12 (Income Assistance Application Process for People with Disabilities), has been renamed Help Sheet #12A.

Tax AID DABC: workshops/tax filing services in partnership with VPL

In partnership with Vancouver Public Library (VPL), Tax AID DABC is hosting workshops/tax filing sessions for people with disabilities:

This information session explores income tax issues faced by people with disabilities: simple income tax filing issues, common tax filing credits, options for dealing with tax debt, strategies for communicating with Canada Revenue Agency, the benefits of filing, and other programs that can be accessed through income tax filing.

One-to-One Tax Filing Services for People Receiving Disability Benefits
Saturday, March 9, 2019 (9:00 am – 5:00 pm)
Carnegie Branch (VPL): 401 Main St, Vancouver
 
Income tax consultations and on-site service for people with disabilities receiving disability benefits, and their families.
 
Through this one-to-one service, receive consultation on your outstanding taxes, discuss options for dealing with tax debt, and learn strategies for communicating with Canada Revenue Agency.
