📢 Join us at a PUBLIC RALLY to save The Right Fit Program! 📢
The Right Fit is a vital program that matches wheelchair users with safe, accessible housing and it is at serious risk of ending. We need YOUR help to keep it going. Help us tell federal Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Gregor Robertson and other decision makers why this program is so important.
📆 When: Wednesday, April 22nd at 2 pm PT.
📍Where: Office of the Honourable Gregor Robertson (#360-3150 E 54th Ave, Vancouver).
“The right to housing is not realized through supply alone. It is realized when housing is matched to the people who need it. Programs like The Right Fit need to be understood as essential infrastructure, not optional extras. We already know what works. Now we must act to preserve it.”
The above quote is pulled from a blog post on the Balanced Supply of Housing website about the importance of the Right Fit Program: https://bsh.ubc.ca/federal-funding-pulled-from-accessible-housing/. It was written by Drs. Alina McKay and Colin Philips, researchers from UBC. Dr. Phillips was placed into accessible housing by the Program and as such, has firsthand experience of its impact.
Along with our Right Fit partners Individualized Funding Resource Centre Society we are still fighting to save the Right Fit, after losing federal funding. Without the Program, hundreds of wheelchair users will lose access to critical housing support.
