CCD Seeks National Coordinator

The Council of Canadians with Disabilities (CCD) is seeking an individual to fill the position of National Coordinator.

The ideal candidate for this position must have an impressive track record of leadership through extensive experience in senior management positions within government or the not-for-profit sector; must be self-motivated with strong communication skills and be computer literate.  Ability to communicate in both official languages is an asset.

This position reports to the Council via the Chairperson of CCD with direction from the Executive and National Council.

The National Coordinator provides current background information to the Executive Committee, Board and Sub-Committees of CCD on a wide range of policies and issues impacting the lives of persons with disabilities, and is responsible for developing annual budgets and reporting to government and other funders as required.

The candidate for this position must also have had personal or professional experience with disability.

CCD’s National Office is located in Winnipeg, but through the use of technology, the successful applicant can reside outside of Winnipeg.

Job Title: Research Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Manager of Community Outreach, the Research Assistant will support qualitative research for our Mothering with Disabilities Project. Our project aims to understand the legal issues facing mothers with disabilities, how existing laws and policies impact these women’s rights as parents, and how such laws and policies can be reformed to ensure greater respect for the rights of mothers with disabilities.

Tasks will include:

 Attendance at interviews and focus groups with mothers with disabilities
 Transcription and summarization of recorded interviews
 Data entry and coding
 Participation in project team meetings
 Additional research, as required by the project team

Qualifications and Skills:

 Undergraduate degree completed or in progress
 Familiarity with social science research methodology
 Experience with data management
 Excellent typing skills (70 words/minute or better)
 Strong spoken and written communication skills
 Sensitivity to the needs of diverse groups of women with disabilities

Hours:

The position will be approximately 30 hours per week for 8 weeks between May and June 2014. The hours will be dependent on the amount of work required and may fluctuate.

Ovarian Cancer Canada seeks an Awareness Coordinator

Ovarian Cancer Canada (BC/Yukon Region) is accepting applications for an Awareness Coordinator (one year contract). Based in Vancouver, the Awareness Coordinator will be responsible for identifying, coordinating and delivering awareness and knowledge activities in BC and Yukon.
